Welcome to MCWP! We are an organization comprised of mathematics teachers. An affiliate of NCTM and PCTM, we serve ten counties located in the southwestern Pennsylvania. Throughout the year, we support mathematics contests, recognize outstanding high school senior and student teacher, and sponsor workshops. Come join us and be involved!

2011
MCWP Golf Classic
The
21st annual golf classic was held on August 9, 2011 at the ShamRock Golf
Course in Slippery Rock. It was a beautiful summer day void of the hot
weather we were having at the time, We even missed the huge rain storm
that went through early that day. Everyone seemed to have a good time. The
course is a level one that makes it possible for all degrees of skill
players, each being challenged in their own way. The low score using the
MCWP handicap system was John Angelo, son of long time professor at IUP
Joe Angelo, and Marlin Hartman also a long time professor at IUP. They get
to share a trophy for the year. They each also got first choice of the
prizes being offered. Chartiers Valley math teacher, Bill Phiffer was the
overall low score without the handicap.
We would like to thank Garry Quast acting as our host
for making the arrangements with the golf course and the Camelot
Restaurant. The catered lunch always hits the spot when we finish the
round. Chicken breast, salads, and cherry pie were the highlight of the
meal. Left over food was donated to the “Feed My Sheep” food bank in
Slippery Rock along with a cash donation from the golfers.
Anyone who would like to play next year should contact:
Charlie Fleming-- fleming5121@verizon.net--- to be put on the mailing
list. It will be held the second Tuesday of August in 2012.
